Transparency Statement on Animal Research

At the Institute of Anatomy and Cell Biology, we conduct animal research only when no viable alternatives exist, and it is essential for advancing science and medicine. The majority of our work is performed using organotypic slice cultures and acute brain slices derived from neurosurgical resections. Recently, we have also started employing human-induced pluripotent stem cell (hIPSC) and organoid models.

We adhere strictly to the 3Rs principle: Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement, ensuring the highest ethical standards and animal welfare. All studies are reviewed by independent ethics committees and comply with national and international regulations, including Directive 2010/63/EU.
